I understand that but what I can't understand is why did i get 1440x900 a few weeks ago before I re installed windows?
When i had that screen resolution the monitor was fine with it

I have had this problem for a while now, I built my rig this summer and games I installed on here have been working just fine. But as soon as I got Left 4 dead, and a bunch of other games on steam. I've noticed a lot of game BSOD'ing (blue screen of death) on me.
