Cannot install AMD display driver on Acer Aspire 7750G

For clarification this laptop has switchable graphics so it has both Intel and AMD display drivers. I recently tried to update the AMD driver (AMD Radeon HD 6650M) for my laptop due to not being able to access Catalyst Control Center. It didn't work, and I mistakenly forgot set a restore point.

I've uninstalled the drivers, ran Driver Sweeper, and ran CCleaner. I attempted to install the display driver for my model from the Acer website: VGA Driver AMD v8.901.4.0 (http://support.acer.com/us/en/produc...1&modelId=3476).

However, I do not receive the option to install a display driver in the Catalyst Install Manager (https://i.imgur.com/qL52a.jpg). I have been able to install it in the past. This time however, when I run the Catalyst Install Manager it doesn't have an option for me to install the display driver nor Catalyst Control Center.

Also, the AMD card is not able to start, but I suspect this is because there are no drivers installed for it. (https://i.imgur.com/qL52a.jpg)

Is there anything I can do short of doing a total restore to fix this?

    Welcome to SevenForums,

Have you tried the native "Acer eRecovery Management" software (can be found in your programs list)?

This will restore back to default both VGA drivers.

Yep welcome Asos No's solution is prbably what you want

But I had a similar problem with my desky and the only way I fixed it was to uninstall CCC and then reinstall it - if that is of any help. :)

Oh and do an image mate - saves a lot of this sort of run around.

Ya if you go into the driver folder the install for the catalyst control is in there plus a bunch of other stuff. Just look through the folder you will find them.

I just tried this out and it is working great. http://www2.ati.com/drivers/beta/amd..._12.9_beta.exe
No issues has more settings just go to your support site download the driver and the catalyst control will be inside the zipped folder under setup with the catalyst symbol next to it. Try to make sure you find the open CL windows installer as well. This is what the driver file should look like. This is in the Bin folder pick 32 or 64 depending on your OS! Hope it helps

    Bios

Have you tried the bios mod. What a difference. Before I did it I was unable to use my design programs like Adobe CS6 and Vegas Pro 12. Now that I unlocked my bios I can just dedicated the AMD card. It runs great now plus it sees the card as a 7600 instead of the 7670 from Acer. I was very impressed. If you want I can send it to you and what settings to change. I will never buy another Acer or AMD product again. I have spent so much time fixing this then using it. I also deleted the Acer D2D partition and download a trial of Win7 and just reinstalled it without all the Acer junk. Frees up some space and makes the computer run smoother. Just make sure you burn a copy of your drivers so you can reinstall them without a problem.
