    Question About Driver update

    Hi

New guy here. I have been running win 7 for about 6 mths now dual boot with xp. I have done a fresh install and got rid of xp and running win 7 straight up. My system is a Gigabyte AM2+ with a phenomII black edition 4 core., 4gb ram onboard video.

Now for the question. i got thinking today and realized i hadnt installed any chipset drivers etc. I look in device manager and all the drivers are from microsoft and from 2006 ? So i go to gigabyte and get the win 7 download but all it installs is the graphic driver and usb filter driver nothing else. I try driver max and it says my drivers are up to date. What am i missing here.

    Hi socketman

You aren't missing anything win 7 insatalls most of the correct driver on install, most ppl dont have to find any. As long as there are no "unknown devices" and everything is working your golden. I personally dont use a driver max type program because sometimes they give false up to date, or download the older drivers.

Hope this helps, and have fun with win 7 just make sure you backup

I was pleasantly surprised, after Win7 installation I tried loading several drivers and the message was always the same, something like 'most current driver already installed'.

Can't say I miss loading all the drivers

Well ive been around since windows 3.1 and i like the fact the drivers are installed immediately and correctly. Its just a bit unusual is all. Thanks for the replies

Makes me feel like there's still something left to do!

Still looking for drivers and checking if they're current.
