Install the chipset from the Acer Support Downloads webpage for your model.

Oh and i had a look. On acer and they list my x3400 but have no frivers and the tower is different. They list an x3400g where they have drivers and tower is the same. Should i try the x3400g drivers?

Make sure you are on the Downloads website for Europe which may show different models for downloads. http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/downloads.html

When I google ax3400 drivers it shows it is a US model which Downloads page is here: http://www.acer.fr/ac/en/US/content/drivers

I also see the x3400 as the only choice when I choose Aspire desktops. I would input the Serial Number to get more accurate results. Acer has shoddy organization of their downloads.

What is the error given when it refuses to install?

After downloading the file, rightclick to extract the files from the installer package then rightclick Setup (Application) to run as Administrator.

If you can extract the files take note of the location and then in Device Manager from the Co-Processor device choose Update tab, then Update Driver, then Browse to the location where the file is unzipped to see if it will pick up the driver.

Hi damon86, the coprocessor used to do the math on the old 8086 processors ( the floating point) nowadays it is no longer required to that extent as we have multicore processors capable of doing it , have a look here What is coprocessor :)
