New 7 Install, ipconfig/release/renew brings LAN connection then fails

Hello, I am new to this forum. I appreciate any help you can offer.

I have been troubleshooting an error with both my WIRED Internet Connection and AUDIO since installing Windows 7, over a previously running XP SP3 OS on the same Comp.

I have 3 desktops running through this working connection (Router) with no problems. If I connect directly to the Modem, no problem on the internet.

Through the Router, my computer retains its connection one way,

    cmd. ipconfig /release, ipconfig /renew.

This lasts for a period but if ever awaking my comp, the yellow explanation mark returns and i repeat the command.

Audio is also not working. I know its likely a driver error, NIC Card, maybe, but its an old comp we put together, what specs do you need to resolve this matter?

    THanks guys!

    Try this:
    1. Open Control Panel, Network and Internet
    2. Select NEtwork and Sharing Center
    3. Select Change Adapter Settings
    4. Open properties of the Local Area Connection (or what ever the connection is called)
    5. Under the network card name, click on Configure
    6. Select Power MAnagement
    7. Untick option 'Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power'
    8. Click OK , and OK again to close Properties

What do you mean by this " Through the Router, my computer retains its connection one way,"
Do you want to say that you always have to do this for connecting through your router?
& for audio follow these steps:
    1. Run sound troubleshooter from control panel.
    2. If that does not help then run FixIt for sound for Win 7.
    3. If you believe its a Driver issue then goto Device Manager & check status of your audio device. If there is no driver then install driver & if driver is already there then update it through Device manager.
