geforce 9600m not working on windows 7

I am having a problem with installing drivers for the Geforce 9600m GT card. I recently installed windows 7 professional 64 bit system up from windows RC (can't remember what build). I have a BenQ S42, it came with the card installed and with vista 32 bit system.
The driver properties says "This device cannot start. (Code 10)" but when I try to update the driver it says that it is up to date.
Any help is most welcome thanks.

    Hey Phil

Hi and welcome to seven forums

there are working drivers available for your card and win 7. Im not sure if you are 32bit or 64.

I suspect its the BenQ S42 that is giving you the problem. what is it and are there drivers for it?

I have a 9600M working on my 64 bit system. It works fine with the generic drivers that Windows installs and it works with the official Nvidia drivers from there website's download page: Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

I have also used the drivers from LaptopVideo2Go NVISION -> NVIDIA Drivers and Tools without any problems.

    Hope this help.

Phil you might want to un-install the driver for the BenQ and let windows find one.

    Good luck

Ok well it's a 64 bit system. I had already downloaded both of those drivers linked above and neither worked. I tried uninstalling the drivers and they still do not work when i try to reinstall. It says that it can't locate any compatible drivers. When i installed windows 7 it installed Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family which previously wasn't on my laptop. Could this be affecting it?

    Try this:
Run updates to see if you missed any or any failed.
Another thing to try is, insert the 7 cd, and run setup.exe
Then, select "Upgrade" and go from there. You will have to enter your cd key, I'm pretty sure.
    That may help.

Ok I updated my specs, hope that helps now.
I also tried to upgrade windows 7 but I am out of space on my HD so I'm making space now. Will let you know if it works. I also ran updates through windows and didn't find anything. I even uninstalled the drive and it reinstalled straight away without letting me pick the drive i wanted it to use.
