Thanks Sillyman. I would like to have a workable touchpad before dumping cash on an OS I can't use. HP says it won't supply drivers for my dv5140. It was "Vista Ready" so how old can it be?

I like Seven but until I know it will work on my machine I will run the RC.

BTW, "brutal" is the cursor randomly jumping all over the screen. Needed to use keystrokes to navigate - takes me back to my pre-Windows days!

    Thanks again.

So I tried Sillyman's suggested driver but got the same jumping cursor. Thanks though!

Well, maybe "RC" is the problem. Why don't you try the RTM? You can test it for 30 days without any key.

BTW: My touchpad was functional out of the box of course. Win 7 recognized everything besides the internal cardreader. The driver is needed when you want to use the extended options offered by synaptics.

strange the touchpad has issues, I have not installed any drivers beyond what windows finds and after a few days windows even updated my drivers for it to the latest drivers and it works great.

Thanks. Good idea about the RTM but where can a trial copy be found?
