    Setup.exe files will not run

    Hi all

I have this very odd problem. I am trying to update a driver, and the setup.exe program to install it will not run. I double click, and the system asks me to confirm that I want to allow it. Then ... nothing

Another setup.exe program also behaves the same way.

A malware check comes up clean.

I have followed the steps in this thread, but no joy.

In the event log, there is an entry for MsiInstaller that:
Windows Installer reconfigured the product. Product Name: Asmedia ASM104x USB 3.0 Host Controller Driver. Product Version: 1.16.1.0. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: Asmedia Technology. Reconfiguration success or error status: 0.
    I'm stumped - any ideas?

    Thanks

Hi Thebenb, welcome to the Seven Forums.

As your event log tells you everything is OK. Quite a many drivers simply install themselves without any dialog. Drivers are also often quite small so it happens in seconds.

The last sentence in your event quote says it clearly: Reconfiguration success or error status: 0
    Successful install, no errors.

    Thanks for the prompt reply.

I will check some other programs, that are not drivers, but that does kind of make sense, so hopefully it's OK.

    Thanks,
