Samsung 120GB 840 Series SSD Drivers

    Hi,

It's my first time building my computer, and I'm all done - I had some difficulty with making my .iso file bootable which I was helped with on here last night. Now I require drivers for my SSD which I can't find. Well.. I went on the Samsung website, searched my SSD and downloaded the 'Magician Software' which I tried to find the driver in - no luck. I also downloaded the 'Firmware' (I thought this sounded more appropriate) which gave me two .enc files. I copied both of these to my USB and tried to install Windows again. It still can't find the drivers for my SSD to install my OS.

    Thanks! :)

Sounds too simple but I suppose you have tried the Device manager TN?

I saw those refs you mentioned - a bit odd if you ask me and I ma stating the bl**ding obvious but did you install that stuff from the stick to the machine?. Again simple but how about unplugging and re plugging it in or new cables?

Don't underestimate my at-times astounding level of stupidity; nothing is too simple. :P

I know what Device Manager is, but what's Device Manager TN?

I literally just copied the files onto the USB, booted from the disc and it's not displaying any hard drives (I do have an SSD in there, I'm not quite THAT stupid), so I chose the option to load the driver, selected the USB stick and it can't find any appropriate drivers on the stick. I even unchecked 'Hide drivers that are not compatible with hardware on this computer', still no luck.

I did try unplugging it and plugging it in again, still can't find the drivers. What do you mean my new cables? I'm plugging the USB directly into the port.

**Additional information which may well be why the fault is occurring**
I couldn't find a USB memory stick and I'm so eager to get this working I found an old smashed up MP3 player which I'm storing the files on. It detects without problem in my laptop with which I put the files on, and it picks it up in the desktop I'm building, but it just can't find the appropriate drivers on there.

    Thanks for the help.

Oh... turns out SSDs don't need drivers and the reason it wasn't showing up to install was that the SATA cable wasn't properly connected to the motherboard. *Facepalm* Oh well, I'm up and running now!

Look TN there is saying of Brink (Yoda) that the only stupid question is the one the the person does not ask and that just about sums it up mate.

I had an idea they didn't have drivers per se' and do let us know how you go with the SSD just as a matter of interest did you run this SSD Alignment doesn't matter if you didn't cos a lot don't think it is necessary but I do it on all drives SSD and spinners.

It probably shipped with the current firmware on it already. Also, you just need to install and go through the Samsung Magician software and you are off to the races! Enjoy your new SSD, and maybe benchmark it and post here .
