Recovery drive is filled , how can i clean it up or make more space ?

I have a laptop....a shiity one but still being that it is my first baby I want to make sure its running fine as rain without any problems .

Im currently using avast virus protection .
CCleaner for basic things like problems and little bugs that need fixing .

but today while going through my files I noticed my D drive was almost completely filled to the brim. apparently its a recovery drive. now I dont have many pictures on my laptop just of me and my partner but even then they are saved onto a USB so i cant loose them and then deleted from my computer fully. im going to d the same with all of my music as well. which is well over 400 odd songs or so.

iv clicked properties on it and looked at everything but i figured before i start mucking around in this thing let me ask the people who know computers like the back of their hands .So what can I do to it ? and please a step by step and someone who might even be able to talk me through this . I have skype if that helps .

i only have two drives . my C drive ( i will never touch that iv herd some scary things from that drive like a total crash and such. ) and my recovery D drive .I dont think i have to consider this a drive but i also have a cd drive too .

Welcome to sevenforums! The recovery drive is by design, just large enough to hold the OS and programs that came from the manufacturer. It is best to leave it alone. If you have a large amount of space on the C drive, you can shrink it in disk management and create a partition to store your personal data, keeping the OS partition as clean as possible. You can find how-to instructions in our tutorial section.

Remove all DATA you have ADD to the Recovery Partition.

The recovery drive is usually a "hidden" partition containing the files and utility used to restore your PC to a factory condition. If you haven't made a set of recovery disks yet, I would do it now. If you mess up that partition or any of the files in it, you may not be able to do a factory restore or recovery. The manufacturer usually hides this partition so you can't save files to it and they make it as small as possible so it doesn't waist any space on your hard drive.
