recovery drive fills up more everytime i reinstall

i've re-installed windows several times now, and every time i noticed that the recovery drive fills up more and more. and now i have less than 2 GB left on it. i do an out of the box installation every time also. i never did a back up nor have i saved anything on there, so i don't understand why it's filling up. when i open it up there's only two things on there, recovery partition and output folder. is there a way to get some free space on there? i don't want to have any trouble re-installing in case i want to do it again. thanks

As you suspect, the contents of the recovery partition should not be changing, especially, growing.

One possibility is that you have a default download drive letter assigned in a browser or other software updating app that is using the recovery partition as its destination, or as a place for temporary files.

You would need to go through all your browsers and apps and confirm that these are both untrue.

i checked all browsers and apps and did not find anything that's using recovery drive as a destination. also, it only fills up when i re-install, not while i'm using the computer on a day to day basis. any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated. thanks.

It's been my experience that the factory installed recovery partition comes in an almost full state. There is no need for free space on that partition. It's purposely made to be just big enough to hold the recovery software. Make sure that partition is hidden and does not have a drive letter assigned to it. If it does have a drive letter then its possible that system restore or some other Windows program is accessing it when it shouldn't.
