That is probably the ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection module. For reasons unknown to me it is normally integrated on motherboards used by Pavilion series laptops, even it doesn't work with all HD's used by HP. For instance this Pavilion I'm writing my post now uses Toshiba HD's and ProtectSmart doesn't work.

ProtectSmart is a device that detects a sudden movement of your computer. It prepares the hard drive to an impact when it "thinks" computer is falling thus protecting you data.

Krees, Install the Vista drivers from HP. I had 4 unknown devices and after installing the drivers that I knew I needed everything was showing up normal. Kari is right about the possibility of it being protect smart which was one of the ones I needed.

Yeah I did a search for the Protect Smart driver and got the Vista x64 driver and it worked. I'm not sure exactly how to test if it actually worked, but the unidentified device has now been associated to the Protect Smart module.

Sorry I didn't update before, but thanks anyways for the help.
