In my case I found out that there were no upper nor lower entries in the registry to delete, in other words dead-end.

What was funny - Windows recognized the CD/DVD drive after I removed and reinstalled it, as if nothing really happened.

Windows 7

I am having the same problem and when i went into the registry editor i deleted the upper, there was no lower. I restarted the computer and checked again still no luck. The upper is back but the lower is still missing. I know my DVD drive is fine BC i am tri-booting XP Vista and Windows 7. I have been searching google but everyone has the same solution for the problem and that did not work.

Now i believe my problem may be different. I have a missing driver for my Raid Controller. Not sure how to solve this any help would be nice thanx.

Not sure if this has anything to do with it but i also am showing 2 floppy drives. Not sure why i only have on thats USB. Also my DVD drive was working on initial install but just stopped at some point i really dont know when though. My initial install was on a different hard drive and i cloned it to the one i am currently on. Could that have something to do with it?

All USB ports don't recognized usb drives but do see other devices
I can't remember exactly how this happened because it's been a cascading disaster. It started with my efforts to uninstall Crashplan. In the course of this I unplugged one usb drive (I have 6) from a hub while it was on. At the time everything seemed ok, but it was not the case once I shut down...

Usb external drives not recognized
This problem just popped up on both my win 7 machines. Powered usb external drives (the ones that are based on standard hard drives and plug into the wall) are recognized, but the smaller usb powered ones are not. The drives work on the same computers when booted xp so it's not the usb itself. ...

USB Drives not recognized
Greetings, I have this problem that began just after one of the young ones yanked two USB hard drives from their sockets. The drives when plugged in don't dance anymore, in fact they don't even show up for the dance. Device manager doesn't see them, there's no little "da doo" when they're...
