Hi Kini: I have gdi.exe already in my computer but... What to do with it? I executed it and nothing happened! Yes I have the HP lasserjet 1000 installed in the xp virtual machine. It's the only way I make it work in Win 7 (host machine = network printer) with pdf creator.

    HP laserjet 1000 W7 x64

Hi yinyong, I was told to make sure that I had GDI.EXE, then I re-installed my hp1000 in windows 7 that's when it worked. I did check and in the xp virtual machine that printer is not set up as USB it is set up as third party check and see if that is the same set up for yours.

Thanks, But I'm little confused here. I wonder why you mention "xp virtual machine" if what we are trying to do here is to make work HP1000 DIRECTLY IN WIN 7 X64... I have it working through xp virtual machine but although is doing fine the problem is that VW have to be mounted each time I want to print something. In this VW printed is set as USB001 (virtual port for usb) Also you wrote before “The GDI.EXE compatible with 64” I found on line and downloaded it". I don't know if the gdi.exe I have is compatible with 64 bits. Where did you downloaded yours?

All I know and have read is that W7 does not recognize the old HP 1000 and that it will
through the windows XP. I do not have to use the Virtual machine to print it works directly in my windows 7. I honestly don't remember where the GDI.EXE went but I was in W7 when I downloaded and it just took it with no problem then right after that I went back in W7 and in add a printer (left the old one in) reloaded new printer from my HP 1000 CD.

In ports W7 says USB001 Virtual Printer hp 1000
In W7 under in additional drivers under processor Type checked box is 86 type 3 user
My printer in VW XP is not hooked up to the USB it is hooked to third party.
I wish I could be more help if there is anywhere you know of for me to look for information let me know

Check this (in Hp support forum).. Has somebody in this forum tested this solution??? The suggested download is 74 mb size. I have limitations about this so I'll encourage somebody of us - "the HP lj1000 dissapointed club" - to test it and I'll try to download. I mean TO PRINT DIRECTLY in Win 7 64 bits!!! Re: laserjet 1000 - windows 7 driver solution - HP Support Forum All I have just succesfully found a solution to making the laser jet 1000 work under windows 7 64bit The trick is that you need a GDI driver and finding a supplier ( other than HP ) who has built one. Go to the following link and download the windows 7 64 bit driver for the following printer Support & Drivers Search Page | Konica Minolta Business Solutions, U.S.A., Inc. search desktop printer -> magicolor 2430DL ->drivers -> windows 7 64bit ( or whartever windows version you need) KONICA MINOLTA magicolor 2430DL install the drivers Add the printer as you would normally and then open the print queue window and under printer properties select advanced and under print processor select winprint raw The reason this works is that this printer uses the same hardware GDI engine as the lasjet 1000 Enjoy Anthony

Hi, Kini: I tried, once more, to install the printer in my computer (Win 7 x64) I set all the .exe files in setup to Win XP SP3 The setup runs fine until almost the end: print proc error driver installation failled driver not installed --- plug printer cable Final warning: the printer is not installed until YOU PLUG USB CABLE (It is plugged!) print proc error driver installation failled PCL printer can not be installed RESULT: HP Lj 1000 is not shown among the installed printer... (only shown in devices... with a warning yellow mark) Add a printer: Port USB100 Driver? Use disk. Go to lj1000 folder and select Zusb.inf Error message: not compatible with x64 The other driver HPLJ1000.inf... The same error.
