No, sorry if I wasn't clear.
The laptop goes through the same process, but never actually determines the make/model of the mouse. It just happily accepts it as an HID-Compliant mouse. The Desktop goes through the process, but finds it as a Shogun Bros Ballista MK-1 mouse, but then fails to install a driver. I also just uninstalled every USB Controller and Root to see if this takes care of it....didnt work |

I can't think of what the problem could be, but you could try a Repair Install
Repair Install Be sure to backup any data you absolutely can't live without. In a repair install most of your files will remain but you definitely want to backup your most important data just to be safe. Be sure to go over all the information in the link provided before going through with the repair install, especially the Warning section. |

SOLVED.......FINALLY.
So I actually just sucked it up and reformatted my entire SSD. I don't like re-installing Windows on top of itself. After a full fresh installation and countless reboots while it downloaded drivers, the mouse is NOW WORKING!! Only one question still remains however: Why is it that the old Windows installation was showing the mouse as the actual Make/Model (Shogun Bros. Ballista MK-1) but the new Windows install and even my laptop running 7 only show it as a HID-Compliant Mouse??? It just seems weird that the one computer that actually KNOWS what model it is, is the computer that the mouse didn't work on?!? Ehhh, whatever. Its working now. Solution: R&R (Reformat & Reinstall) due to corrupted USB and Windows Installation. |

Solution: R&R (Reformat & Reinstall) due to corrupted USB and Windows Installation. Its the reason we systematically go through the steps even when they have been performed by the user already. Just eliminate, move on to the next solution and repeat. I suspect windows just had some funky config somewhere that made it install a driver for something that didn't need it. We could have really got into the deep underbelly of the PC but a repair install, or in your case a fresh install is sometimes the best/fastest solution. |

I had my struggle with that mouse too (Shogun Ballista, vid E0FF, pid 0002), and I know this is a quite old thread but in case someone is bing'ing this might help.
I was finally able to resolve this 'missing driver'-issue on my computer (x64, Win7 Ultimate). I stumbled over a tool called usbview tree viewer USB Device Tree Viewer to read out the usb descriptors of the attached devices. It's similar to the Microsoft usbview but display additional things. For my working hid mouse I noticed that contrary to the MS device manager this tool shows me as the responsible .inf file C:\Windows\inf\usb.inf and NOT C:\Windows\inf\msmouse.inf (although both are probably neccessary)). First I thought this was an error because I had no (!) usb.inf/pnf in my inf folder. But a quick search on my computer revealed a location as \DriverStore\FileRepository\xyz. I copied back usb.inf/pnf to the inf location....and after re-plugging the mouse is finally working. Happy New Year to you all! |
