    I completely agree with Mitchell, system imaging is (IMHO) a necessity on any Windows OS.
    Here are two great tuts by Shawn and whs;
    System Imaging with Windows' their own tool.
    System Imaging with Macrium Free (this one is recommended).

    I would certainly use Macrium reflect rather that Windows system. I like the ease of producing a bootable CD so that you can boot straight in to a "restore back up" without booting up windows. Can that be done in Windows built in system?

    Yup, Windows gives you the option to include it in a repair disc during the creation.
    But I agree with Macrium, much more options and easier in use (once you get used to it, that is).
