Yes, they were years ago just Sysinternals, now they are Microsoft Sysinternals. It has been a number of years.

They're good tools, Process Explorer and Process Monitor are my favorites.

When ever I am brought a system with the same issues, I always use the Microsoft Sysinternals Suite Process Explorer. I find that it allows me to pinpoint issues quickly. I was using these tools before they were bought by Microsoft. They are a great set of tools. Just a suggestion.

As for the information regarding the dirt and dust the inhabits all laptops, you are correct, they must be clean on a regular basis to keep from overheating, odd things from happening.
Bought by Microsoft? Mark Russinovich designed and developed most of the tools, and he used to work for Microsoft, so he more carried them over with him.
When Mark Russinovich went to work for Microsoft in 2006 the SysInternals website and all of it's software tools became the property of Microsoft.

I knew he went to work for Microsoft. I also knew that he had these SysInternals tools available to the public prior to his going to work for Microsoft. That's All I was trying to say. Sorry If I was clear enough.

I have used his tools since I graduated from college and went to work for a major Geographical Information Systems company. His network tools helped me to fixed and entire network / active directory / DHCP, DNS and to connect that overseas network to ours. They are excellent tools.
