AMD chipset driver failure
I keep an old computer at the museum where I am a volunteer for all the volunteers to use, music, photo's etc. Somehow Windows 7 hp has become corrupted, everything runs at snailspace even though task manager shows nothing amiss. Anyway I brought the pc home and have reinstalled windows, successfully activated and everything is now hunky-dory. I installed the drivers from the original cd ok, but when I tried to update them with the latest chipset drivers from this forum it failed. Some part may have worked because a restart was required. The motherboard is a socket 939 Asrock 939A785GMH/128M. This is a fairly modern board for an old processor, northbridge 785G and southbridge SB710. The new chipset drivers are supposed to work with 700 series or later chipsets. Thankfully everything seems to be still working ok. All the data is on a second hdd so all that is lost are many favorites for the internet. Does anyone know why the update failed?
