Can't find update for Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset on man web

My graphic drivers are interfering with shut downs...I need to update the Intel 4 Series Express Chipset driver and there is no update for it on the manufacturer's website. I have a Gateway laptop about 4 years old and have been having many freezes. How can I update this driver??I did go to the intel site and it said i needed to go to manufacturer's website. I am not too computer savvy and could really use your help. Just wondering if I should purchase a new laptop or can this be updated....

Hi lcleary60, Welcome to the forums, This driver should suit your needs https://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det...*&DownloadType= Just press the download button at the top right hand side of the page, It will download as a self extracting .exe file :)

    Hi Pepply

When I look at the Read me file, it doesn't list Intel 4 Series Express Chipset. Will this still work and can it be undone if it doesn't? And what does it mean that it's a self extracting file? I just tried to install it and a error message came up and said "The driver being installed is not validated for this computer-Set up will exit"

Hi lcleary, The Intel 4 series is listed>

"This software driver package will install the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator driver for the Intel® Core™ i3 Processors, Intel® Core™ i5 Processors, Intel® Core™ i3 Mobile Processors, Intel® Core™ i5 Mobile Processors, and Intel Core™ i7 Mobile Processors and the Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator driver for Intel® G41, G43, G45, Q43, Q45 Express Chipset and the Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family."

Have a look at this tutorial Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable it may help you to install this driver

A self extracting .exe file will automatically install itself once you click on it , You could also try running the .exe file under Admin rights Run as Administrator :)

Hi again Pebbly....I read the tutorials, but there are so many options and am not quite sure how to start and am afraid of crashing my computer. I know this is asking a lot of you, but is there any way you could tell me exactly what to do from start to finish. I'm not sure how to log on as administrator as I have never done anything like this before....pretty dumb I guess, when it comes to any problems with my computer....I'd appreciate any help from you that I can get and thank you for trying in the first place...:)

Hi lcleary60, After you have downloded the driver file,Single click the file to highlight it (left mouse button) Once highlighted, right click on the steup.exe file (right mouse button) this will bring up a new drop down menu ,scroll down to "run as Administrator" :)
