usb 3.0 driver update disabled usb keyboard/mouse, win 7 pro sp1

    HP EliteOne 800 G2 non-touch
    Win 7 Pro SP1
    Raid 1, Primary 1tb, Secondary 1tb

Followed HP Support Assistant to update Intel USB 3.0 eXensible Host Controller Driver.
Windows popup said driver was installed.
HP Install tool said update FAILED

Reboot and I am unable to use mouse or keyboard to navigate to User Login (can't select or click on icon to get option to enter password). Mouse and Keyboard are dead at all 6 usb ports. Tested a HUB, 3.0/2.0 with 7 ports, all failed. Tested HUB at each of 6 usb ports, all combinations failed.

Booted from Win 7 SP1 factory disk. chose option to repair. Selected 'Startup', proceeded to message saying no errors in Startup. Exit 'Repair'; continues to boot normally and end up at same login screen with no mouse/keyboard function .

Press power off for 10 sec to power down. Unplug source power, then restore source power. load CDROM with factory disk. Press power button, system starts, select boot from DVD, launches the 'install/repair' session, loads Windows files, select option to 'repair'. Message says 'recovery options are not compatible with operating system' (worked before to check 'startup' for errors). Exit to continue launching Windows, ends up with disabled mouse/keyboard.

Tried same process with Safe Mode, ends up with login icon and no functionality to select/click on icon to enter password.

Consulted HP Support by phone, no solutions, recommended re-imaging Windows 7 (clean install) and then use Recovery disk to get back to last save (Sept 25).

Launched Win 7 install, shows Drives as 0 system, 1 windows, 2 recovery, 3 backup, 4 cdrom. All options have a message 'Windows cannot be installed on this drive'. Exit install session, system resumes attempting to open Windows, end up at login with dead mouse/keyboard.

Power down, unplug power, restart, use ESC to access HP start-up menu. Examine BIOS options, do not see 'Enable Legacy USB', did see that 'Legacy Boot' option was enabled. Don't know what other BIOS to check.

Is the solution a PS2 adapter to connect mouse and keyboard? This system only has USB ports.

Overall, I can't use mouse or keyboard to login and can't seem to add/remove/update drivers. Don't know what other options might solve this glitch. Thanks for any assistance. Hoping to avoid a clean install of Win 7.

Use dism++ to remove the offending driver.

It is included in this boot media under start menu\install.
