'Download was interrupted' - Cannot download drivers for HP printer

    Hi

I am trying to reinstall PS_AIO_04_C4500_USW_Full_Win_WW_130_140.exe (HP full feature software and driver) and I'm persistantly getting the message below
(I've attached the event viewer log too)

I have closed down anti-virus / anti malware applications so what's happening now? I could throw the printer and laptop into the street right now!

    Can someone help please?
    Thank you

    p.s
Just tried the same on a clean boot, and the download slowly got to 170mb (over 8 mins) and the same message appeared.

    Tara,

You say it didn't work on a clean boot? Hmm. Then see if firefox or another browser gives you the same issue, if you will.

    Hi

I'm trying though Pale Moon browser right now - over 10 mins, it's downloaded just 15mb (from 173mb) so it's not looking good....

pale moon? may I recommend doing a full antivirus scan. Also, try your luck downloading another program. Say, malwarebytes free. Then give that program a full scan on your computer as well for good measure.

Next, go to control panel and uninstall anything that you did not install or want installed, except for most things from Microsoft.

Then go to your preferred browser, go to tools>manage add-ons. Disable or remove most everything except flash/adobe (you can always re-enable things later). Go to your search provider and remove all the ones you don't want. most people seem to prefer google. Then reset your preferred browser - Internet Explorer - Reset

Could always be the fault of your ISP being slow. Can't say for sure.

Pale Moon is Firefox based, but lighter, faster and even more secure - I used it for many years

I've done scans already (2am last night in frustration) with Malwarebytes Pro and Kaspersky.
    sfc/scan showed no issues.
Add on's are already disabled (though I don't have many) as I did an IE reset also.
I only use Google as a search provider, as I don't like Bing and all the rest.

Any ideas what that 'Click2Run' is about? (mentioned on my event viewer log above)

    Thanks

Click to run: What is Click-to-Run? - Products - Office.com

Is this a persistent issue, or just recently cropped up?

Restart the computer, restart the router/modem, wait 5 minutes or so (not a science), and see if it improves.

It is a long term thing. My all-in-one printer / scanner always worked fine, but the scanner couldn't send docs to my laptop as the 'HP Solution Centre' was problematic and wouldn't work when opened. I tried uninstalling / reinstalling but the same problem persisted.

I gave up and wasn't too bothered as I rarely use the scanner, but I needed to urgently last week, and was hacked off that I had one I couldn't use. This was what prompted me to remove the software (cleanly) and to try reinstalling again.

Now I'm swinging between giving up / refusing to give in till it's fixed!

Well these forums solutions can take time, unfortunately. Mainly because we are not there in person to fix problems, and because we often take off to attempt to live some kind of a life away from a computer (Jokes)!

Is this problem present in all downloads, or only off that website/particular download?

Does windows update work? If so, make sure you have the updates installed. If you are able to download some things, try to download the most recent driver for your computer wireless or wired connection to the internet.

If you own the Acer Aspire 5742, then here is where you want to go for said drivers: http://us.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/...;Aspire%205742 - select 64 bit windows 7 instead of 32bit for the OS

All other downloads go through fine which makes the problem more weird.

My drivers are all up to date - I checked those recently, and there was a large Windows update on Friday, though this problem has persisted for a long time.

    Computers eh!
