    ATI Raedon Adapter Error

I have the Full final version installed on my Desktop (see system specs.)

My event log shows these errors upon each boot for atikmdag.

    1. CPLIB :: General - Invalid Parameter

    and

    2. Device is not active. (no suprise considering the first one.)

I am using the Windows 7 driver installed from the DVD and windows update says there is no better.

The display seems to be working just fine in the Classic mode as well as the Aero mode.

How can I supply a valid parameter to driver?

    Thank you very much.

Even if Windows Update detects no driver...go ahead and install your GFX driver from ATI

    Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM

My driver for my 8600M GT doesn't get detected and installed by Windows Update

PS Thanks for filling out your system specs (and to a great degree of detail...). Welcome to the forums!

    Thank you Zidane24.

I went to the site you mentioned and can't quite figure out which of the several things I should download. I don't think I need to download the entire suite, choice 1. My best quess is I should just get the driver alone shown in choice 2 without the control center.

    Which do you suggest?

    Thanks again.

Do the first one so you make sure that you get the catalyst control center

I was surprised you could understand what was going on-on that page...too much crap for a driver installation page

    Thank you.

That did the trick wonderfully. Now all I have to do is find a way to get rid of the pesky error message about mrtRate sevice and the event log should be clean. Like the fireman on Penny Lane, I like to keep a clean machine!

I faced a solved the mrtRate service problem back on the RC and solved it with the help of this forum so I guess I will just have to search the forum to find out how it was done.

    Thanks again.
