This was purchased from Amazon.com (legally - shipped from CircuitCity) and when it arrived, I called Microsoft to make sure that it would work. They answered in the affirmative.

Try the Driver below for your Video .. Yours is an Intel 900 .. But this one may work
Drivers, Software & Firmware for HP Compaq nc6220 Notebook PC - HP Support Center
Thanks, Maxie. That didn't work either. OK, so here's my plan:
1. Format C:
2. Run the original Toshiba Recovery and Applications disk (go back to original config)
3. Attempt to install Win 7 using a different selection. (Keep original drivers)
Whaddya think?
Well some xp Drivers can work on Windows 7 .. I suppose you have nothing to lose .. I doubt it will work though .Would love to be proved wrong
I'm thinking that at least the restored version of XP will show me the manufacturer of the various devices, and I can contact them directly for the Win-7 drivers. If available. It only takes time, and since I'm retired, I have time!
If not, I'll just keep the laptop to operate my mapping/GPS program and motorhome engine monitoring system while traveling and stay off the Internet. Hate to replace the laptop, even though it's 9 years old, it operates fine.
True but gives you an idea of which Driver is needed .. Finding the right Version is the problem ..
OK, so I returned the OEM Windows software, reinstalled XP, and downloaded drivers. The WiFi shows the network, displays "Acquiring network address" but does not connect. When I turn off WiFi and connect directly from the cable box to the laptop with a LAN cable, the computer displays "connected" and shows an IP address, but I cannot connect to the Internet with the browser?
Hi there .. I would start a new Thread under Network & Sharing .. You would get better help there from an Networking Expert .. Having an XP OS does not help .. I can just about remember how it works ..
