    Logitech WebCam Drivers

Got a Logitech (QuickCam) Webcam, logitech website says no drivers are available for Vista or Windows 7 and telling me do buy a new camera!

    Part number is M/N: V-UBC40

If anyone hears of a third party offering them then do please let me know.

    Thanks

Does the webcam appear in the Devices and Printers screen?

i have a quick cam too, though yours maybe an older model.

    see if this works:
    >plug the camera into your computer.
    >cancel the automatic driver install
    >open windows update and scan for updates.

a driver that works will be downloaded and installed enabling your cam to work with one drawback: there is no camera software--just the driver.

your camera should work with skype, facebook, or any app that can access and use a webcam. as such, you will only be able to adjust the camera settings when you are using that specific app.

Yes it does appear as a "USB Composite Device", tried letting windows update scan and download the correct driver, but it still only shows as a USB Composite Device.

What it also does when windows updates searches for the correct driver is run the Logitech update utility to try and get the latest software and drivers, this fails as it says no update available.

Is this http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/48...hub=1&cl=de,de your camera? If so, forget about it! You have to buy a new one. Or you can try to use it in XP Mode, but cameras are so cheap...

I also have a QuickCam, different from the one the OP has, and Windows 7 recognized it only as an unknown device. I was able to get the driver for it easily through Windows Update. Yours is obviously older though, so that may be why Microsoft has no driver for it.

Logitech does not have a Windows 7 driver available, nor do they have a Vista driver, and their site specifically says that this camera will not work on Vista ... which typically means it won't work on Windows 7 either. So yeah, you're going to have to buy a new camera, but you can probably get a decent quality new one very cheaply. Sorry...

I'm going to be honest here I will never own another Logitech webcam. When MS comes out with a new OS Logitech looks at it like an opportunity to sell you a new webcam. I hate there products and there support is the absolute worst. Buy a MS camera.

I agree, have to buy a new camera... As for Logitech, with their crap attitude I am with Zone here and will never buy Logitech again.

Many thanks for everyone that tried to help, was 99% sure it was a lost cause, but if you don't ask you don't get

Well, it's not that bad. I had the same camera model, and I replaced it with a new logitech quickcam fusion. This is an older model too, and so it was very cheap, because it was sold as a cam for XP/Vista. But it's supported in Win 7 as well, I checked that before ordering.
