Windows refusing to use nvidia drivers?  

So I've upgraded my laptop from vista 32-bit to windows 7 32-bit. For somereason, no matter what version of nvidia laptop drivers i try, once it goes to reboot, the computer will hang after the 'windows loading' screen and never reach the login screen. From there i'm brought to the startup repair, which doesn't do anything. However, when the drivers are removed, my computer boots fine using the windows standard vga graphics driver. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the Welcome! I've tried numerous nvidia drivers all in vain attempts, to get my HP laptop to work , including:

1.)186.81 Laptop (Win 7 32-Bit) from Nvidia Website
2.)191.56 Nvidia OEM (Win 7 32-Bit
3.)Most of the updates between 18x.xx and 19xx.xx
4.)Select software and drivers HP Pavilion dv9543cl Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English) (Old Vista Drivers for built for HP Mobile Card)

They install perfectly, but when the reboot occurs, Windows 7 hangs after the loading screen. I know it has to do the driver, because the problem occurs after everytime I attempt to install a nvidia driver. Without the drivers and using the Standard VGA adapter, Windows 7 runs like a charm. Could this be because my 8600M is integrated into the motherboard, and not a stand-alone card?

EDIT: I didn't notice your suggestion about the driver signature enforcement. I'll have to give that a try with the 186.81 update.

Hmm..I tried that but, nothing worked. However, I remembered that before I installed Windows 7, my laptop in Vista had the same problem. It was working fine, then the display stuttered and just shut off, leading me to the same problem as I have now after upgrading to Win 7. Could this be a hardware issue?

After I uninstall the nvidia drivers windows is able to install the standard vga graphics adapter automatically.

whats your software environment beyond a fresh windows install ?

No, It's only able to automatically install the Standard VGA Video Adapter once the crippling NVIDIA driver is removed.

Find the hardware id of the display adapter. Device manager, right click on it. Properties, details tab. Change property dropdown to next one which is hardware ids. Copy and paste what is there. We can perhaps find a driver like that.
