Gateway MX6920 video driver problem I had (need answers)

When I upgraded my Gateway MX6920 from Windows XP to Windows 7. all that was missing was the video driver and I didn't have Aero nor able to play games. so I go hunting down a Windows 7 video driver without success. All I could find was Vista drivers that resulted in "operating system not supported" error messages. I spent hours without success on finding a video driver. I was ignoring the windows updates because I was looking for drivers. my friend said he would look to see if he could find one (I was already on 8th page of Google). he just brought up the Windows Update window and voila the update was a video driver from Microsoft!!

my question is why was finding a Windows 7 driver impossible using Google if MSupdate has them on stock in Windows Update? makes no sense that Google had none yet Windows Update did.

can anybody shed some light on why there is no drivers on the net but are on Windows Update? if Windows Update has it, shouldn't it be readily available on the internet?

Can someone tell me why this is?

Speakers on MX9620 working after upgrade to Windows 7

I found the solution by accident while trying to "fix up" a friend laptop. The recovery partition on the hard disk contains a driver that works under Windows 7, even though it was originally coded for XP. Navigate to D:\i386\Apps\App08521. The setup program there installs SigmaTel Audio drivers. That seems to do the trick. I've not fully tested but at least I am getting the systems sounds now and the speaker volume icon on the task bar works.
