    Acer Fingerprint Reader Driver

    Hi,

I have an Acer 5942G and recently had to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium. This of course meant reinstalling all the drivers. All of them so far have installed without a hitch, except for one.

My laptop has a fingerprint reader, so I downloaded the drivers from here

    Acer | Download

However when I go to install it the installsheild wizard just seems to hang on the "Acer Bio Protection is configuring your new software installation" part. It just stays like that forever, I even left it for just over an hour and nothing.

It is extremely frustrating and I cant seem to fix it no matter what I do. My "FingerPrinter Reader" does go from an unregognized device in Device Manager to "Secure Biometric Device", but that is all it seems to do.

    Can anyone offer a solution?

    Thanks

Well I have installed all the right ones for my GPU, card read etc, but for my fingerprint reader I used the only one listed

    "Fingerprint EGISTEC Fingerprint Driver 6.2.56"

I have installed the Launch manager that is listed under "Applications", I have also installed the Intel Chipset drivers

These are the only drivers and applications listed for my laptop

If you have Installed the AMT Driver ... I shall have to do searching and see what the problem could be

    Success!

So I have no idea now this worked, but it did. I decided to try and burn all the files in the downloaded zip file (including the .exe) to a DVD and try to run it from there. Surprisingly it worked and I can now login with my finger like before, I only hope that the same issue doesn't occur in the future with other installations.
