Is DriverMax a safe program for finding and updating drivers?

I've been using DriverMax for several months. After downloading and installing drivers, they always ask if they're successful. How would I know?
I tried IObit's driver updater, but it always wanted me to update with drivers that were older than the ones I already had.
I'm getting an 00000002.sol error that won't let me back up my files. Could that be related to driver updates?

I tried DriverMax for a month or so. Initially it allowed two driver downloads a day but after a week or so and about 15 updates that was cut to one, the program constantly nagging me to upgrade to Pro. No problem though because a week later I uninstalled it. Like you I had no way with many of the updates of knowing whether they were successful or not, as it often wasn't clear to me how to find out as my laptop had been problem free anyway. But after I discovered that one of them had disabled both of my laptop's USB3 ports and another had disabled the camera I had had quite enough, restoring an image I had purposely created before going down this road. In future I will only search out driver updates when my computers are showing issues, and if that happens I will find them myself.

I tried that program out of curiosity and it always said drivers outdated.

I went to the mfr site and that was not the case.

    Also Device Mgr said "Current."

I don't fool with these kinds of programs - free or not.
