Problems with my card driver and some USB drivers, unable to fix!  

Ok I am going to follow all those steps and see if it works,

I am at the stage of checking my disk drive and realised I am very very low of space - lower than i thought




Now could this be part of the problem. Everything I upload defaults into C disk but D disk has more room - is there anyway I can change this. This is a result of my PC being in a repair shop a few years ago. Anything pre that point is in the bigger disk, anything post that point goes into C.

Can I just move stuff and might that help?

OH! Stupid me My brain just kicked in. Things make a little more sense.

I was looking at Portable devices this weekend. i noticed for each flash drive installed, windows creates a corresponding "Portable" device. And i checked, Portable devices don't show Hardware IDs (so what you're seeing is normal. You helped me learn something too :) )

Your card reader looks, to Windows, like multiple flash drives. I think Windows is trying to create a Portable device for each "flash drive".. That's why we're seeing the card reader like names on each portable device. The Windows Portable Device driver install is failing.

Anyway, finish the scans. Let's see how things look after.

I think I've just managed to make a bad situation a million times worse!!!

So I'm following the steps and saw my disk was running out of space. I hit the compress file option, it started then I thought what am I doing and stopped it.

Then was doing as the links suggested and scanning my disk but it said I had to restart pc as disks were in use.

I restarted the pc and now it won't reboot. It comes up tfght is compressed. I cancelled the compression but it's obviously goosed something!

I have a feeling this is all going to end very badly!!!!

1. You could try a Windows Startup repair Startup Repair
Otherwise, you may be best to create a new thread in approriate forum for recovery help

2. For now, you could move some data off the C drive. If you have another PC (or use a friend's) download and create a Knoppix Live CD. Boot off the CD into Knoppix and you'll have a file explorer type access to your disk as well as USB ports. So you can move stuff between partitions or off to a backup hard drive

You can tell Windows to move each of your personal folders: Downloads, Documents, Music, etc. to a different drive. See HERE

Don't know that you would, but fyi, do NOT move any Programs by hand (just your data files) Most Programs these days let you choose the folder when you install it. You must uninstall and reinstall a program if you want program files to get moved correctly (there's registry changes and other dependencies involved that also need be handled by the installer)

Note that only moves your personal folders not the Public folders for Documents, Music etc. Just in case you keep anything under the Public folders too.

Think I'm going to run it past the local pc shop today to be honest. I'm worried I'm going to make the whole thing worse! As I seem to have managed so far!!

Bit of a late update, apologies. Seems the whole driver problem was media player had been removed. That was why the pc wasn't detecting my phone!!!

However pc problems continue so I'm off with my tail between my legs to the other thread!
