XP64 driver not compatible with Windows 7 64 bits

I am not able to install an XP64 driver under my new installed Windows 7 - 64bit (premium version).
The driver is for a dedicated board (digital receiver ICS554). I am a French Ham radio.

Before, I did a test with XP 32 bit version under W7 32 bits - I did an install with compatibility mode and all rans very well.

For a second machine, I am not able to reproduce this install into a full 64 bits environment (XP64 driver => W7 64bits). I try to install the 32 bits version but I have the same issue back (Application not compatible retruned by the compatibility W7 tools).

The driver is an "msi" file.
Anybody can help me ? I did not found similar issue.
    Thank you !

    Hi Gandalf,
Sorry for the delay, I am just back from a business trip.
What you need as information concerning Device manager ?
My board appears as "PCI device" without any installed driver (code 28).
    The information is limited.
    Kind regards.

XP64 driver not compatible with Windows 7 64 bits
    I am not surprised.

A driver designed for an older OS may work in Windows 7 but it is not something you can expect to work. Also be aware that 32 but kernel drivers are not supported in a 64 bit OS.

Papatoux - a wizard doesn't explain his magic. If you want the magic to work, just post the image I asked for, please.

Thank you for your answer. But I think XP64 driver is 64 bit driver, no ?

    Hi

    You can try this way ;

    1. Download and install "7-zip" from http://downloads.sourceforge.net/sevenzip/7z920-x64.msi

    2. Right click on the driver's "MSI"package and choose "7-zip --> Extract Files" and unzip the package to a blank folder.

    3. Open "Device Manager" and right click on the digital receiver ( probably in other devices group ) and choose "Update Driver". Then select "Browse My Computer for Driver" and point the folder with the extracted driver. Hopefully the driver may get installed.

    Hi Anshad,
Thank you but the method did not run.
Windows did not found any drv into the folder created by 7Zip.
The files extracted into this folder don't have any extension (just a name). I have included a list of these files.
    It is very amazing !
Do you have extra help ?
    Best regards.

    Hi

Please try one of the "msi" unpacking tool from the below links.

JSWare - MSI Extractor/Unpacker - MSI Editor - MSI Code and Tools - Windows Installer

MSI Extractor 4.01 Download - TechSpot

If the extraction is successful, you will find one or more "sys" and "inf" files inside the extracted folder or it's sub folder. If you can't see, please zip the msi fie and upload it with next reply.

    Hi Anshad,
Extracted files are now OK using MSI extractor. Good information !
Then I have installed the driver following your method but it seems there is compatibility issue. Any ressource (memory, IRQ) is allocated to the board and its test application could not open the board.
Now I am afraid the driver is not compatible with W7/64bit ??
    Thank you again and regards
