Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems.

    Hello,
I recently purchased a gaming mouse and it got shipped yesterday night.
I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure out how to make my mouse work on my computer.
I keep getting this error whenever I try to plug in the mouse. I's a USB 2.0 mouse.

Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43).

I've manually tested each and every USB port on my computer and they ARE working fine with other devices. It just don't work specifically with this mouse.
I've installed the drives from the CD supplied with the mouse by the vendor.
I've uninstalled USB port, restarted computer multiple time with little to no success.
The computer meets the specifications of mouse required.

The mouse works fine on my laptop running windows XP on which I can just plug and use it. There's even no need to install drivers manually. So, I'm kind of frustrated and clueless about this. Any help is appreciated.
I'm running Windows 7 Service Pack 1(64 bit). Please let me know if I can provide any other information.

... that basically means the driver has failed. Uninstall from the device manager then do a Scan for hardware changes...

@DMHoolt57 - I tried that. But still no luck.
Here's the error I'm getting after restarting the computer.

It is possible for the hardware to be bad. When I have problems with usb devices I do this:

Try this: (This will remove all usb devices from your computer and reinstall them on boot.)

USB drive or flash problems? How to cleanup and remove old USB storage drivers - TechSpot Forums

That should resolve any issues you have with usb devices unless it is hardware related.

EDIT: Make sure to run this bat file as an admin. Right click the bat file, run as administrator.

First, check if any Class upper or lower filters are defined for the mouse. (if a filter is defined in the registry but filter file itself doesn't exist on disk, it can cause a code 43)

In DevMgr, right click the device->Properties->Details. Use the pull down menu and carefully scroll down and check to see if either a Class upper filter or Class lower filter exists. (We only care about class filters, not device filters). If one exists, select and copy/paste what is displayed.

If you don't see any class filters, you can also verify its likely the software (not h/w or BIOS) by creating and booting from a Knoppix Live CD. If mouse works when booted from Knoppix, is a software problem
