ah my mistake , it is indeed an HP Pavillon HPE series model h8-1020
    Thanks, machine in HPE

now...... the Speccy is in French.... ugh!
edit: That was odd, but cool. After I posted this and the next reply, I went back to Speccy and it's English. I can only guess that since it's a web page, that my language preference took effect.
edit2: Nope I was wrong, services and hotfixes are still French

Let me go through it and see if I need your language skills
As I said, most of what I'm looking at is version numbers.

I think you're beginning to appreciate why I let Windows update stuff now-a-days. AMD has been difficult for a few years now, but I think they found one aspect when they removed ACHI from the main install.

For future reference, even if an application suggests updating a driver - ignore it. If the application truly needs the device update it won't work or won't work well. Then you have to decide "Is the application worth the trouble an updated driver might cause". That will save you from losing hair or sleep over driver installs.

No, I don't need more screen shots - just scroll down the list and make sure that everything is of TYPE Display.

    Uncheck anything that isn't Display

    Then press the delete icon

Restart the machine - maybe then you'll have the ugly screen (large icons, fuzzy text) - it's ok if the screen is not ugly... it just surprises me.

For the next steps, I need to read the HP page and the Speccy information. It might be a while

Do you have the AMD install downloaded? Don't run it just yet, there might be one more thing to do.

Real quick - both Defender and Norton are disabled. You should have some protection running
Norton is heavy, Defender is light and alone isn't enough

MSE is a good compliment to Defender. I forget is MSE turns off defender, but it might. I think Norton does.

If you want to try another language change.

    Right Click Computer
    Select properties
    select advance system settings
press the Environment variables button (bottom)
in the lower box, scroll down the list of vairables uuntil
    OOBEUILang: fr-FR
hightlight that and press the edit button
    change fr-FR to en-EN
    press Ok (out of edit)
press ok (out of environment vars)
press ok (out of advanced settings)

I have never seen this variable or tried this, so it might not have any effect (OOBE - Out of the box Experience)

Came across the var in Speccy and thought "Hey, that might work", but it's just a guess.

Could you check this location for me
    C:\Program Files (x86) \ NVIDIA Corporation \ PhysX \ Common
Does it exist and what's in the folder?

This is usually associated with an Nvidia GPU, but you're trying to install AMDs driver.

I'll read more on HP. There might be two GPUs in the machine - I'll keep reading

i proceeded to delete what you requested, however some it wasn,t because I don't have fusion premium.
Here's what's in the Nvidia folder:trouble updating driver for AMD Radeon 6570 HD-nvidia.jpg
And but the AMD install, are you refering to the 14.4 driver update?
Also, concerning the anti virus, I used to pay for Norton, but I was told it's a terrible anit-virus and i've been looking for a better alternative.
Also i apologize for the delayed response, I was waiting for your reply but I didn't notice that there was another page

Ok, post another shot of Fusion - is it smart enough to know what's already been removed or does it just check everything AMD?

Still looking at the HP page, got distracted on another thread.

AMD - yep the 14.4 update. That's where you started this thread right?

Norton: your subscription ended, but it's still running (at lease the fire wall is).
It's not a terrible AV, it's a bit heavy sometimes and because of that it has caused crashes.

    Anyway, Uninstall all of Norton.
There a re a number of viable free AVs out there - use MSE for now (I already posted the link:))
Check the Security center in control panel to make sure both Windows Firewall and MSE are running - you might have to turn on the firewall, but I think it will start once Norton is removed.

Don't worry about apologizing, it's been a pleasure working the issue with you. I know this is getting long, but we're also touching on some other things. Those are a bonus

If I can figure out why Nvidia is on your machine (or remnants) we can to back to the AMD install.
