Windows 7: Network controller issue

Network controller issue

I've just re-installed Windows 7 onto my PC, upgrading from 32bit to 64bit. All going smoothly except I cant get it to recognise the driver for the wireless adapter. I have a Edimax EW-7711In adapter and I downloaded and installed the driver from here for it. However, the device manager still gives a 'The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)' message for the Network Controller. I've tried to manually update the driver by pointing it at the file the above driver is extracted to but even when I do that it gives a 'could not find driver software for your device' message.

It worked fine on 32bit, is this adapter just not suitable for 64bit? Have I just got the wrong driver? Any suggestions on what to do?

The hardware ID seems helpful in similar threads, mine is: PCI\VEN_1814&DEV_0301&SUBSYS_71281432&REV_00

Thanks for reading and any help you can provide!

Update: connected to the internet with an ethernet cable and auto-update seems to have sorted it out!
