PCI Simple Communications Controller Doesn't Have A Driver

    Hi All,

That is message, but I don't know what to do. This is how it came about.

My husband built my CPU which is great when it works and when it doesn't, I have to wait until he "FEELS LIKE IT" to work on in it --- almost 2 months and I am still waiting.

After vacation, I was getting an error message while trying to bring it up and my husband reloaded a couple of corrupted drivers - don't ask me which ones, he was too busy to articulate it. But the problem is now that doesn't recognize my Microsoft Wireless 5000 keyboard and mouse -- it will however work with a wired keyboard, wired mouse, printer, scanner and sound. I replaced the batteries, moved and reset the doggle, deleted and reloaded the drivers from microsoft to get the most current and still doesn't recognize it. I went into troubleshooting hardware from the control panel and the last message I got was "PCI Communications Controller Doesn't have a Driver" --- what do I do? Is this even the problem? And by the way, the husband is now out of the country and I am not waiting on him any longer.

    Other info:
    Processor: Intel R Pentium R D CPU 3.40Ghz 3.40 GHz
    64 Bit Operating System
    Windows 7 Professional

    Thanks for any help!
    Janet

Hi Janet .. What is the Make and Model Number of your Computer ? .... Go to the Device Manager in the Control Panel ...

You should see a Device there which has yellow exclamation mark beside it ...

Select that Device right click on it then Property's / Details Tab .. And Post the Hardware ID please ...

    Hi!

    Hi Maxie,
    I will do my best:

    Manufacturer: Unknown
Location: PCI Bus 4, device 0, Function 0
Device Status: The drivers for this device are not installed (code 28)

I did not see a tab that said "details" -- only 2 tabs General and Hardware nor did I see a hardware id.

Hi Janet ... Seems like you are missing a Chipset Driver .... Which is in the Link below ...

    GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket 775 - GA-8I945P-G (rev. 1.x)

How are your USB Ports working ? .... Please answer the question before Installing the Driver ...

When I see that issue it has usually meant the Dial-Up Modem that is plugged into a PCI slot. Most folks in my area don't use Dial-Up Internet service now so if drivers for it can't be found either on the disc that came with it or on the 'net I just disable it in Device Manager. If one is no longer using a landline from the local phone company it's not useful anyway.

    Hi!

Maxie - yes my USB ports are working --- and I checked those on the front of the CPU as well as those in the back (don't know if it makes a difference, so I took the time to check both sides)

Berton - I went into control panel / devices and printers and didn't see a landline modem listed -- am i looking the right place. Also, I moved this CPU a year ago to Texas from Louisiana - in Louisiana I did use a landline modem at one time but by the time we left, we had been using DSL for several years.

Hi Janet ... In that case i would leave well enough alone ... Re installing the Chipset Driver will not fix the error .. Windows has provided the best Driver ..

The device will be listed in Device Manager, look in Control Panel for it. If drivers can't be found and you don't need it, it could be removed from the computer. Or as I said, I just Disable it in Device Manager.
