    No Windows 7 Printer Driver

Neither of my laser printers have Windows 7 drivers. I am currently running home premium, but will be upgrading to ultimate.

Can anyone tell me the steps to go through to see if a Vista driver will work, or how to run the XP driver in compatibility mode? I am computer savy, but brand new to 7 from XP.

I tried allowing auto find of drivers and it still tells me there are no drivers. I searched manufacturers web site, and no news at this time of whether or not drivers will be available.

    Vista drivers will probably work.

I had a similar problem with my networked HP 2600N, and here's what I did:

I found the latest drivers at the manufacturer's site, ran the executable and let it extract all the files. I copied the entire folder and put in on my desktop for easier access.

From there I went to Device Manager, chose Update Driver Manually, Have Disk, and selected the folder I'd copied the driver files to. It should find the ".inf" file and load the driver.

Thanks all. Downloading the Vista 64 drivers and then pointing to them when loading the driver worked.

If you have an HP printer the other thing you can do is download and install the HP Universal Windows driver for Windows 7 32/64-bit as appropriate. They come in two versions...one for PCL printers and one for PS printers.
