    UBox 2100

A friend of mine has a UBox 2100 (UBox 2100 / 4100 - Serial To USB, USB Ethernet Adapter, USB Adapter).

It works in Vista but it will not work in Windows 7. The maker has said they have no plans to release a new driver for Windows 7.

Based on the way it almost works it looks like some part of it is just checking the OS version finding a unexpected response and then stopping.

In the way that you can run applications in Compatibility mode where the application is told that the OS is XP when it is really Windows 7. Is there anyway to run a driver in a compatibility mode to trick a driver into thinking it is running in Vista or XP?

No Windows 7 driver for the UBOX 2100/4100!!! I have a UBOX 4100 and had been unplugging, plugging into Win 7 machince then back into the UBOX. Not wanting to purchase another product I downloaded and installed the driver for the Keyspan U2S-2A (make sure you uninstall the UBOX software and drivers first). Had to manually set it up static IP address which I had arleady done to prevent the constant resetting on power outages. Also manually set the UDP port to match what was already being used and enter the UBIX serial number. The control windows is exactly like that for UBOX. IT WORKS!!! Reboot after installing and setting up software. The devices showed up. DO NOT CONNECT YET unless your devices do not have any installation software. Install your software, if the software searches or asks for device to be plugged in then connect the device or wait until the installation finishes to connect. Hope this works for you also.

    Mr Bojangles,

I'm trying to install a Ubox2100 in a Win 7 x64 machine with no luck. I could get it running using XP Mode in a virtual machine. Weird thing too, the latest keyspan utility doesn't work on a vista x32 machine either. On both machines I opened up the TCP and UDP ports, and added the keyspan utility to the firewall exception list

Keyspan and firmware version is: 2.02 fw4A(417010) fw2A(522230)

Did you get it running on a Win 7 32 bit machine? What version utility did you use?
