    Gigaset USB Stick 54

    Hi,

I'm quite sure this wasn't sold worldwide because I haven't been able to find much info online. I found an interesting post in German but Google translate didn't help me much.

This is a wireless USB adapter. It worked fine when I used it in my laptop running WinXP x86.
Now I have 7 x64 and doesn't work as good as it used to. I get BSOD from time to time.
I'm using the Vista x64 drivers provided with it, but it causes the BSOD anyways.

I know the BSOD are caused by this device because I never ever had a problem with this computer and I never do unless I'm using this adapter.

    Siemens online doesn't help.

Does anyone know this little device and have updated drivers?
    I'd appreciate it very much.

    Greetings.

If the manufacturer of a device doesn't even provide support for 7, then it's likely not available.

Vista is not 7, not a huge shocker that the vista drivers aren't smooth sailing.

Buy yourself a nice NEW 802.11N USB wireless device, like this and end the pain:

    ASUS USB-N13 USB 2.0 Wireless Adapter - Newegg.com

When I moved to 7 I lost a couple devices and noticed one of the wireless USB's similar to yours wouldn't work, happy ending though, it works on the Wii.

Hi there .. I could not find a Windows 7 Driver for this Device... I did find one interesting fact though .. Seems like this Device can cause problems conflicting with some AV programs .. This might explain why you have been having crashes .. I think your best solution which has already been stated is just to replace the Device

    Hi,

    Thank you both for replying.
    I was afraid of that.

    Thanks for the link.

I believe I will be buying a wi-fi pci card when I go to my local hardware store.

    Thanks a lot! :)

Yeah, I'm late, but for the sake of not wasting good hardware let's give a shot at this.

That thing is basically a OEM box for an atheros wifi chip (as they state on the box). If you can post its hardware ID I could try to fetch a driver from Atheros, that might not have windows 7 drivers, but is more likely to have stable vista drivers.
This explains how to get such ID (of course you do it for your device, not an android phone as in the tutorial).

    Cool, thank you!

With finals around and another shift at work I haven't taken the time to buy the wi-fi card yet. So I still have the annoying ethernet cable all through my house hallway.

    The hardware IDs are:

    USB\VID_129B&PID_1667&REV_4810
    USB\VID_129B&PID_1667

Just in case, the compatible IDs are:

    USB\Class_FF&SubClass_00&Prot_00
    USB\Class_FF&SubClass_00
    USB\Class_FF

    Thank you!

So, it appears that the thing is running on a AR5007UG chipset (or ZyDAS ZD1211B, rebranded), and the latest drivers for that are here.
Not being drivers from Gigaset your device should change name and become a "Generic IEEE802.11g Wireless LAN" in device manager, but at least in theory it should work fine where it matters.

You might need to wait a bit after you clicked on the download button before it pops up the download dialog. I also attach it to this post for the sake of convenience.

It's tiny because it's just the naked driver (no installer to click on), so you need to update it manually. This tutorial.

    Crossing fingers.

Btw, there is also an older version of the driver if you scroll down a bit, 2.0.0.127, which you can try as well.

    Thanks dude!

I've been using it for about half an hour now and no problems. Let's see what happens.

    Much appreciated :)
