Windows 7: want to send drivers to a friend in Oz

27 Sep 2014   #21

win seven 32, win seven 64

that's about where I was - and then he went to the Dell site... and we hit another problem. The tag sent him to the driver page for that exact model, but the chipset driver on there is an updated one - 2014. The generic driver for Intel chipsets found on the alternative non-tag page for that model is dated 2006. I had directed him to the tag page, he downloaded that updated driver and installed - and the computer crashed every time he rebooted. He will try for a system restore in safe mode today, if that doesn't work, he will have to put the system on again - but whether he will have the confidence to put the other chipset driver on.. we will see..

If he had been near Adelaide I could have downloaded the necessary and paid him a visit but Perth is like 3000 clicks from here. Frankly though, sounds like he doesn't want/deserve any help

Harry he is a long way from me too but the lack of interest on that fellow's part is bad form in my mind. Frankly his friend deserves better
