Problems with my Creative Sound Card.

    Hi all,

I've been having problems with my sound card drivers ever since I upgraded to Windows 7 64 from Windows Vista 32. I must admit I messed up by not writing down what specific sound card is in this laptop (Dell Inspiron 1520) and I have not been able to find any drivers from Dell.com.

I do have a CD that originally came with my computer thats labelled "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy" so I was assuming thats the type of sound card I have? When I look in Device Manager all it says is "High Def. Audio Device". Additionally whenever I do try to install either the SigamaTel Audio drivers from Dell or the Audigy drivers from Creative they just say the device is not supported. So I'm at a loss as to what to do!

I noticed this problem when I couldn't use a microphone (which although old) that until the upgrade had worked perfectly. Now when I plug it in Windows Seven just says it's a "Line In". What in earth does this mean?

I'm not too knowledgable about drivers but I wish to learn. I've noticed that there are a lot of great people on this forum helping each other out so if you guys could assist me in finding a solution I would really appreciate it. I would love to be able to talk to my buddies over Ventrillo again!

    Let's not guess here.

Right click audio device in device manager. Properties. Details tab. Change dropdown to hardware ids. Copy and paste results to here.

Now I have no idea what those mean. Hopefully y'all do! Thanks in advance!

I tried the Realtek drivers from the Dell.com site, but they said something to the effect of "device is not supported".

    Drivers and Downloads

Install using device manager if needed. Try regular way first.

Right click audio device. Update driver software. Browse. Let me pick. Have disk. Browse. Find the .inf.
