    Turn off usb power

    Hi *,

    I am looking for a way to turn off/on the 5V power supply for an USB device. The purpose is to reset a uC (not my uC) which is powered via USB.

    Is there an API tho achieve this? I found the option "usb selective suspend " for power saving and I thought there is a way to do this.

    Kind regards
    Franz

    Is that not a hardware Control Unit?

    In the Bios settings you should have also a way to turn off some of the usb ports unused, but that is not an external switch and will be permanent when logging into a windows session, therefore you'll have to go back in Bios to renable the ports.

    Hey,

    uC => micro controller,

    It is a measurement product, but the company missed to program a watchdog or a hardware reset. So the only possibility to reset the USB powered uC to turn of the 5V and turn it on again.

    So bios is not the solution I like.

    Kind regards
