All Connections lost after OS Reinstall

    Good Afternoon

Just to start off, I'm new to the forum and just a self taught PC User, even though I use them all day at work!

I have recently reinstalled Windows 7 Professional 64 Bit onto a Samsung NP400B5B (old work laptop) from a recovery disc bought online (used successfully before) this was to remove all data and network info to use the machine at home and now the laptop has rebooted all the Network/Wifi connections have been lost.

I have tried the obvious fixes like downloading the driver package from Samsung and loaded via USB, from desktop, had a chat with Samsung who were not particularly helpful, checked Wifi/Network Connections in BIOS & Control Panel.

It looks like the machine knows the Hardware is there but does not know what it is and cannot match up the drivers I have installed. If I can just get the Wifi connection working the rest should update automatically.

If anybody has any ideas how I can resolve this, please contact me I would be really grateful

    Thanks

Make sure all the network adapters are enabled in the BIOS. A BIOS reset may even help.

What is the Error code for the adapters in the Device Manager?

    Thanks for your message firebird

BIOS Already checked everything is enabled

I have 8 devices with errors, all with the same code - code 28

Devices only have generic descriptions not actual names

    Thanks Chrislabert

There's a BIOS (Firmware) update listed on the Downloads for this model. I don't normally suggest BIOS updates, but in this case I would give it shot. The Code 28 says the driver is not installed or incorrect driver.

    Thanks firebird

BIOS Update downloaded tried to install but without a network or internet connection this does not work

The link is an update to the BIOS Updating Software not the update itself

    Thanks Chrislabert

I just looked at the Specs for this machine. It has an Intel CPU. Most likely Intel motherboard Chipset drivers have not been installed. One of the things the chipset drivers do is identify (define) all the devices. Many drivers will not install if the chipset drivers have not been installed.

On many older OS', the install sequence is (1) Install Windows (2) Install motherboard chipset drivers (3) Install device drivers.
