SoundMAX crashes computer during install  

I recently was running Vista 64, and decided to reinstall my OS. After doing so I attempted to install my soundMAX drivers again (I use the onboard sound from my P6T Deluxe V2). During installation the computer crashed with a blue screen telling me "BAD_POOL_HEADER." I then tried again, with the same results. I downloaded updated drivers and tried reinstalling/uninstalling but had no luck. I then deleted the partition and created a new one with windows 7 64. I immediately installed the chipset and then downloaded the updates soundMAX drivers. During installation I got THE EXACT SAME RESULTS. Why is this happening? Can anyone help?

Do you have the original DVD driver disc for that motherboard?

What have you enabled in the bios under sata configuration? What version chipset drivers are you using? - you may have to do a system restore around the first ones - Intel has new w7 chipset drivers 9.1.1.1009 9/7/2009

They have W7 Drivers on the Asus site now for soundmax. Version - 6.10.2.6585. Go to the below link, and select from a list your motherboard or type its name in search, and it will take you to your driver page :

If you have a look at this link it suggests you probably have a corrupted driver

Yes, I do have the original motherboard disc (drivers on that give me a problem), and yes, I have downloaded the most recent chipset and soundmax drivers (which also gives me a problem). In terms of SATA - I am no expert with BIOS but I'm pretty sure I just have my hard drive enabled. I have tried many different versions of drivers for different card and all crash my computer.

Before you try anything consider the following - the microsoft HD audio driver that is installed automatically is quite good - i use it in 1 of my copies of W7 AND JUST USE THE equalizer in MP12 - I use the classical setting - maybe adjust it slightly, and it works for most types of music eg rock dance etc. You can also get more advanced settings if you want to fiddle via the control panel - sound - speakers -properties - enhancements .

Did you right click the installer and select run as an administrator? This sometimes works.

Also join the asus forums - this is a recent board your using - and if its a bug they will have a solution - also I would suggest updating your bios to the latest version - INSTALL this is the easiest way ASUS Update V7.16.01.

With the sata configuration, I was talking about, if you could enter the bios and just check to see whats enabled - there is 3 choices
Sata as IDE
Raid
AHCI
If its Sata, as IDE you dont need anything, but if its one of the other 2 you need to download, and install the latest intel matrix storage manager - its also available at the asus site - ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

I have already tried the asus boards (I'm not getting any response there). I have also updated my BIOS, which did not help. the Sata is set to IDE by the way whest. I can't use the default windows HD audio because that does not install correctly either, and running the installler under the administratior doesn't seem to help. Both I and my computer manufacturer's tech support are baffled. If anyone can find a fix I will dub them a genius.

Is onboard sound enabled? If so, try disabling it and buying a $40 sound card as a replacement. Test that.
