Driver for DVD not recognized by windows 7

I just upgraded my windows vista to windows 7. Everything went smoothly except I get this error message for my DVDRAM:T he software for this device has been blocked from starting because it is known to have problems with Windows. Contact the hardware vendor for a new driver. (Code 48)

Has anyone else had this problem? I have searched everywhere and am a loss as what to do. My DVD player won't play any DVDs at all.

My computer is an Acer Aspire 5610 and the code for my driver is:
    HL-DT-ST-DVDRAM-GSA-T10N-ATA

    Thanks

Did this PC come with 7 or did you upgrade? Check the model name for new drivers.

I upgraded it and I did check the Acer website. They want you to download a Driver scanner first for $30.00 and then they send they would update all the drivers. I already have Uniblue driver scanner and it said that I have the latest update.

I emailed Acer support so I am hoping to get an answer from them. It is a pain when you can't use your DVD player!

Threre are no DVD drivers! Win 7 has everything built in. Try updating BIOS and DVD drive's firmware.

All I could find for the Acer Aspire 5610 laptop were XP drivers, for 2006 & 2007.

Have you tried to install the DVD driver in XP compatability mode ?

Since you have Vista on the computer before. What about the Vista DVD drivers?

Try installing them in compatability mode.
