    ASUS Motherboard H97 Plus

I just installed the ASUS board.
I'm getting an "i" in device manager for:
    1) Ethernet Controller
    2) PCI Simple Communications Controller
    3) Unknown device

I have the DVD, but NOT sure where or if the drivers reside on this disk as No
Table of Contents is provides only directories with "obsure" names.
Windows Update cannot find a driver for the above.

    Any help appreciated.

    maxie:

    Thanks a BUNCH.

Had looked on their site but couldn't locate.
Maybe just frustration over all the problems I've had with this build and getting things up and going
since this new board has UEFI and a new BIOS GUI.
M$ has really controlled things to the point it is difficult to do anything other than want M$ want you to do.
Trying to load old software I still use -- even M$ -- has been a *(&^%$.

Every thing resolved except for the

    PCI Simple Communications Controller.

Tried both an Internet Search and Reloading drivers from CD. -- NOT FOUND.

FWIW tried Enabling "Interrupt 19" on the BIOS Boot but still no go.

    Thanks for responding.

Did you Install the Intel Management Engine ? .
    No. Will check into it.
FWIW, I find this ASUS board to be a big headache.
Zero support from ASUS and then no way to tell whether I need ASUS or Intel Driver.

You would think that something as a "PCI Simple Communication Controller" would be
taken care on the CD that comes with the board.
Even Intel's Series 9, doesn't show up on Intel's site UNLESS I'm looking in the wrong place.

I agree, the driver CD should have contained it. Perhaps you didn't choose it from the list you were presented of optional items?

As Maxie pointed out, that hardware ID is for the Intel Management Engine. And the Intel Management Engine driver for each of the ASUS H97 board variations is on the ASUS driver download page for each of them, in the CHIPSET group for each of these boards (note that your specs don't indicate your full configuration, including the H97 board type you have, although the thread subject stated H97-Plus.

H97-Pro, and set your operating system.

H97-Plus, and set your operating system. As Maxie pointed out this would seem to be for you.

H97-Pro Gamer, and set your operating system.

It is better to get the Drivers from the Manufactures Website ...

As the Drivers you have on the Disc would be out dated ...

Thanks dsperber and maxie for followup:

    1) Driver disk is quite current. Only found one or two entries on Manufacturers site more current.
    2) My principal complaints (not that anyone is listening) are:

---- ASUS support is non-existent at best. Had my previous board not burnt up and been in a position where I needed
to get up and running and time to do my research, I would have chosen another manufacturers board,
    My problem. Hindsight is 20/20.

---- How one is supposed to make the linkage between "PCI Simple Communications Controller" and "Intel Management Engine"
is beyond me. Without the hardware IDs, this forum, and internet searches would be up the creek without a paddle.

--- Based on my reading so far of "Intel Management Engine", it appears it is principally for having Intel do automatic updates to your computer. What that has to do with "PCI Simple Communications Controller" is beyond me. Not saying it won't solve the problem, only that I'd rather have this device NOT active, then have Intel do automatic updates

The industry is getting bad about everyone putting all these things on my computer (including Intel and Microsoft) which are hidden behind the scenes -- installing Autoruns and Services -- without giving me the option To/Not To Install. Providing hidden links to clouds is the latest thing,

    ==============================

I do have a question as why certain things show up multiple times in CP > Device Manager.
For example the CPU shows up 4 times. My guess is they consider each core a device but not sure?
Another example is ACPI Fan. Again guessing that each stub for a fan is being controlled separately and hence considered a device.
