Acer Aspire 6920 - Many Drivers

    Hello!

I have an Acer Aspire 6920 with Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and can not find the drivers (Even from Acer Website and Windows Update) For the following:

    -Sim Card Reader
    -Fingerprint Reader (and software)
-Media Control (Seems to work, but the volume does not follow the pad properly)

I have been on the Phone with Acer Support due to a battery problem (the battery is not charging) and they say it's due to Windows 7, as opposed to the battery being dead (I just received my laptop back from Acer repair due to the motherboard being dead, who knows how the handled the laptop, I obtainned it back with several deep dinks which where not there when it was shipped) so maybe I need the right driver for it to.

Acer wants me to reinstall their Vista OEM - not going to happen.

    Please, Help :-(

We can safely say that it is not Windows that is preventing the battery from charging. Did Vista have the correct drivers for the hardware you mentioned? Vista drivers are also compatible with 7, in case there are no 7-exclusive drivers.

I think I sppotted the rather innocent problem.

Compatibility. Specifically, Right click -> Properties.

I allready did try this on the Setup.exe for the drivers, but seeing as they where in .zip files, and seeing how W7 treats the files visually, I did not suspect anything.

So far, the Finger Print Reader is working, and I am installing the other drivers.

If there are any other problems I will let you know on here.

    Thank you very much

Drivers are up and running, but

    - My Crystal Eye Camera is not being detected (I went through the device manager)
    - The Volume Control Touchpad (blue lights) does not effectivly control the volume. The volume goes up and down, but by its minnimum increments, not by the increments shown by the LEDs on the touchpad.

I have an Acer 7720 laptop. When I upgraded it from Vista to Win 7, I stayed with 32 bit and everything works. There are no 64 bit drivers on the Acer downloads for this model and like other PC's in the same boat, staying with 32 bit is a good choice.

I have 4520 and most of the drivers are with w7_x86_x64 support , as soon as I found the last 64bit driver which was the Nvidia chipset driver and someone sold me 1GB or ram for $15 to have a total of 3GB, I reinstalled W7 64 bit over 32bit. Don't know why but since the cpu a Turion 64 X2 2.0Ghz support 64bit, why not make full use of it and did not regret the decision.

By the way I noticed something odd between 32bit and 64bit, when with 32 bit...when I check resouce monitor, my physcail memory have less than 50MB free but when with 64bit I have about half GB free....running same program and with 3GB ram.

I finally recieved my Aspire 6920 from the repair center for a faulty mainboard (one day it just decided to shut off and not turn back on). So, after getting it back, I thought the problems were solved; however, now it doesn't charge. The battery remains at 18% and that's when plugged in; if I unplug it, the whole thing just shuts off. I phoned the technical support line and after e-mailing about my problem, I recieved a reply saying I just needed a new battery. I'm not sure if I want to buy one if it ends up not resolving the issue. Any ideas?
