The setup still fails to see the device. The Broadcom setup recognizes the device but shortly in to the "validation" I get "failed to update Bluetooth software" message.

Are the "software" update and driver update synonymous?

Well, I went to the site provided, installed etc.....nothing.
I had the device working fine 2 days ago. This is a Dell Inspiron 1012 which came with 7 starter which I upgraded to professional years ago. Today I chose to restored rom factory image to clean things up, and then I reinstalled 7 Pro....now all this. It doesn't make sense. What next?
