How to eliminate all traces of Logitech drivers?

Uninstalled all Logitech drivers (including the Unifying software) of all my Logitech products, because I have a serious mouse related conflicts in the Wikimedia/Wikipedia software as it interferes with my editing work in browsers. (I test browsers so I use them all, but mostly Firefox because of the special add-ons). Also, deleted all Log*.dll's from system32 and this cleaned the listing in the HID device section of the Device drivers. A reboot reinstalled the MS drivers which work fine.

But, when I examined the HID driver with SIV (System Info Viewer software), it still lists Logitech Unifying Software as my driver for HID. I searched for it in the Registry and found no reference. How can I get rid of this?

I also considered hardware acceleration to be the source of the problem, but the settings in the registry are set to 0 as outlined in the MS tech info on mouse acceleration.

Thanks for the very helpful reply. I found three drivers from Logitech, the extensions of which I renamed to .pub, and the rebooted. But, SIV still indicates the HID driver to be Logitech Unifying driver.

My unifying receivers work without installing any drivers etc right from the get go. I would assume they are baked into the Windows install library. At best I am thinking you are going to break the functionality of your unifying receiver. I hate to say it, but maybe you should switch manufacturers? Or go corded.

alphanumeric, thanks for your reply. I came to a similar decision in the past 24 hours, so I gave up. Nothing that I tried helped to resolve the issue, and already filed a bug report with Mediawiki on Phabricator. What bothers me is that I don't know how get to the source of the problem by process of elimination. Removing Logitech drivers was one way, removing all addons from Firefox was another, updating/reinstalling the latest Nvidia video drivers was also tried. The results were inconclusive and it's still possible that the problem lies with this release of Firefox (35.0.1). Think I have a backup of an earlier version and I will try this next.

The correct way to do this (for you or anyone reading in the future)

In the following order

1. Uninstall any device installation app
Look in Programs and Features and uninstall any Logitech drivers if listed there

2. Uninstall installed instances of the driver
Run the 32 or 64 bit version of DevManView from Nirsoft (as appropriate for your OS).
  • Click on Manufacturer column. Scroll down to Logitech entries
  • Select the devices you want to uninstall. You can select one or more device entries at a time.
    Then File->Uninstall Selected Devices to uninstall the device driver

3. Uninstall the driver from the DriverStore
All Windows drivers are "staged". They're first placed into the DriverStore before they can be installed. Windows only installs drivers it finds in the DriverStore.

After uninstalling the drivers instances in 2) above, you also want to remove the driver from the Store so Windows won't automatically reinstall upon device detection. Download DriverStore Explorer. Run as admin. Click Enumerate. Look for any Logitech HID entries. Click Delete Package

Footnote: DriverStore Explorer only displays drivers that did NOT come packaged with the OS. So no danger in deleting an OS packaged driver when using this tool
