What is the exact Model Number of your USB Adapter ? ...
I can also try have a look. As for the Unknown Device (the XHCI controller) don't know if related either but have you tried installing the Asmedia USB 3.0 driver from ASUS web site?
List any Problem devices

- Click the + sign next to Components to expand it
- Click Problem Devices. Anything appear?
- If yes, click on it, Ctrl-A to select all, Ctrl-C to copy it, Ctrl-V to paste into next post
- On the other hand, if no devices are listed, tell me so
Generate and attach a DirectX report
- Click Start, enter dxdiag in the search box
- When DxDiag opens, look along the buttons at the bottom of the DxDiag window
===> If you’re running 64 bit Windows, you’ll see a 64-bit DxDiag button. Click it to run the 64-bit version of dxdiag- Notice progress in lower left window corner
- When done, click Save Information button and save as a text file to your Desktop
- Upload the file to your next post
The asmedia XHCI controller i have already uninstalled it . I don't think i using it anyway.
For the msinfo32 , under problem devices it shows this.
The dxdiag is attached as below.
DxDiag.txt
something miraculously happen just now , after letting my comp sit for awhile , i decided to try and uninstall the ethernet controller from the device manager , after which i right click and scan for new hardware. It shows scanning for plug and play compliant hardware and it got connected! How did it happen im not sure.
But I was doubtful that it was really working , so i went to restart my comp to see if it will reconnect again and everything happens again , driver software unable to install . Even after the uninstalling and rebooting and trying to install driver again , none works.
Can you post your MotherBoard Model?
I am thinking it is your chipset driver that is having an issue.
Your Chipset is not the problem you have the latest Driver already Installed ...
Neither is the Ethernet Controller Driver the issue that is up to date also ...
So it would seem that the Ethernet Controller must be faulty ...
That is why I asked you what Model your USB Adapter is ... So as we could try getting that working ...
i see, you have overclocked your rig.
it may have damaged some of your components.
I just have something in mind. how about going back to that old CPU, then check if the ethernet controller will be installed.
