Windows 7: Synaptics Standard PS/2 device

Windows 8.1 Professional x64

Thank you for your advice and for helping me out. So I installed windows 8.1 professional, genuine (one of the perks of being a computers student) and installed all the drivers on Acer's website. There was no separate driver for the touchpad, rather one called I/O something, which I think did the trick. Now I have 2 finger scrolling and other gestures too. The laptop runs flawlessly, as on W7, as you my friend predicted.

Also, i installed a couple of months a go W8.1 and the touchpad did not work. I believe because i installed it using Legacy Bios. For this installation, I used UEFI using the extremely well put together tutorial on this forum. Maybe this fact actually did the trick for solving the touchpad issues.

And also, now in mouse settings, the touchpad is seen as a HID Compliant mouse, not as a Synaptics nor Elan touchpad. Which, I dont mind, because, as I said, the touchpad works great now.

Thank you Arc for your patience and your willingness to help! It is much appreciated!
