Synaptics Standard PS/2 device

Hello. I have a slight issue with the touchpad on my Acer Aspire ES1-512-C39M. After I installed the synaptics driver, it tells me it is a standard ps/2 device, thus not having the capabilities of two finger scroll etc. Bear in mind that on the acer driver site for my laptop there are no drivers for the toucchpad. Heck, there aren't even drivers for W7, only for W8.1. But I got around that workaround using Driverpack Solutions. The laptop works flawlessly, except for the touchpad, that doesn't allows any two finger actions.

Any help would me much appreciated.

There it says: "NOTE: Installing a generic driver may result in the loss of OEM-customized Synaptics pointing device functionality."

Wouldn't that kind of defeat the purpouse?

So I installed it but it says the same Standard PS/2 Device.

Here are the Hardware ID's:

ACPI\ETD050A
*ETD050A

And the Compatible ID's:

*SYN1B00
*SYN0002
*PNP0F13

As the manufacturer didn't tell me if the touchpad is Synaptics or ELAN I am not sure if it is for sure Synaptics. DriverPack solutions saw it as ELAN, but it said the exact same Standard PS/2 device ELAN.

So I thought it might be a Synaptics touchpad with hard to find drivers.

Let us know .... upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.

Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

If it is anything other than Synaptics, the driver will not work at all.

You tried ELAN too, with the same result?

Seeing it there, I searched some sources and got the result that as the computer is originally shipped with windows 8.1 preinstalled, the manufacturer customized options will not be accessible with any other OS.

When you will run any other OS than 8.1, you will have the standard functions only.

A little bad luck, mate. IMHO it will be the best that you contract Acer and ask if they have a better solution to this situation.

I would like your opinion on this. Would you think that it is worth installing windows 8.1? I mean, performance wise. Will it run at least as good as W7?

Windows 8.1 performs a bit better than windows 7 in identical condition; that is usually said. The only negative thing that goes with 8 or 8.1 is it places a different GUI in front of the user. And there is a way to deal with it.
